Satin Weave Design for Smoother Workwear Protection

D59 FR fabric uses a 4/1 satin / sateen weave structure. This is an important feature of D59-style workwear fabric.

Compared with regular twill fabric, satin weave has a smoother surface. This smooth surface helps reduce the chance of sparks, dust, metal particles or work residues staying on the fabric surface during welding, mining, smelting, maintenance or other industrial work.

For protective workwear, this smoother surface can help improve garment cleanliness and reduce surface retention in harsh working environments. It also gives the fabric a more refined hand feel and appearance compared with rougher weave structures.

The smoother surface does not replace flame-retardant performance, but it supports better surface behavior for industrial workwear. Final protection still depends on fabric weight, FR finishing, garment design and testing requirements.

The satin / sateen weave structure can also support good tear performance because the yarns have more movement space than in tighter weave structures. However, final tear strength depends on yarn count, fabric density, GSM, finishing process and testing method, so fabric performance should be confirmed by actual test data.

Special note: D59 FR fabric should not be described as ordinary twill fabric. Its key structure is 100% cotton 4/1 satin / sateen weave with durable flame-retardant finishing.
